1. Exercise in short, intense bursts (interval training) for effective fat burning after exercise.<br />
2. Increase the amount of resistance/strength/weight training you do, to build more lean muscle. Muscle is ‘metabolically active’ and burns more calories than other body tissue even when you’re not moving.<br />
And of course, for best results:<br />
3. Chill on the amount of food you are eating.</p>
<p>Technically:<br />
1. Our bodies are built to survive, so when you exercise for long periods of time (often and consistently) your body thinks it needs to hold on to fat for energy. Doing short (12-15 minute), intense exercise sessions builds strength and burns calories, but not fat, so it “feels safe” using fat stores for energy after exercise.<br />
2. Resistance training (using extra weight) helps build lean muscle mass (and strong bones), and muscle burns more calories than fat.<br />
3. If you are obsessing over things like fat grams and not eating a nutritious diet, your body will reserve energy (store fat) to survive.</p>
<p>Realistically:<br />
1. Varying your exercise is the most effective and efficient way to stay lean and healthy. You must do some longer exercise to build cardiovascular endurance, burn lots of calories, and yes, even burn fat during exercise &#8211; your body will not click in to “save” mode unless you exercise for long periods of time, regularly and often.<br />
2. You must do resistance training in order to build muscle and strong bones.<br />
3. Nobody wants to exercise more &#8211; and we don’t want to train our bodies to need more exercise to stay fit. So exercise efficiently – two short, very intense (relative to your level of fitness) training sessions weekly, like a 15-minute fast run/walk or fast cycling sprint intervals, and two moderately long, moderately intense sessions (30-45 minutes) of strong walking, cycling, or yoga, with one long day (60-90 minutes) of a moderately paced walk/hike. That’s a great five-day/week training schedule.<br />
4. Instead of adding more days to your workout schedule, add a weighted vest to your training. I have said this before, but this is the most efficient way that I know of to build muscle while burning calories. For more information, go to http://www.walkvest.com/.<br />
5. Eat moderately &#8211; stop counting fat grams and calories and look at how much food is on your plate! And eat more nutritiously by eating foods that are natural and unprocessed.</p>

<p>My wife and I thought we&#8217;d start a diet plan to loose some belly fat, etc.  I&#8217;m 35 years old, and lead an active lifestyle.  The diet plan of choice, &#8220;Fat Loss 4 Idiots&#8221;.  Well, I believe that you have to be an idiot to buy into this &#8220;diet plan&#8221;.  This was an actual day&#8217;s meal plan:  Peanuts and walnuts for a meal??  Really??  Turkey slices and Orange Roughy for another meal??  Third meal:  a bowl of pinto beans??  Finally,  shrimp and boiled eggs for your final meal??  Ewe!  </p>
<p>GROSS!!!  Basically, never eat until you&#8217;re full.  That&#8217;s the over all plan.  DUH!  Ask yourself, &#8220;Is giving someone $  40 online a good diet plan??  I might lose a pound or two because I&#8217;m just sick that SOMEONE out there has my $  40 and all I have is a meager 3 lb. loss, probably all water weight, and an uneasy feeling in my belly from eating all these crazy food combinations.  GASTRO-INTESTINAL NIGHTMARE!!!</p>
<p>I feel like such an idiot!! (no pun intended)  Anyone out there know how to get your money back</p>

<p><i>Answer by CogitoErgoCogitoSum</i><br />Okay, losing a quarter of a pound in a single day is a lot&#8230; especially when you sit on your asss all day.  Imagine a quarter of a pound of flesh just falling to the floor every day.  Messy, sure&#8230; but puts things into perspective, no?  How much do you expect to lose doing what youre doing, not doing what youre not doing?</p>

<p>Both women and men have equally wanted to have a well toned body since long. Many different ways have been tried traditionally to burn the extra fat that makes us look flabby. This included eating less or skipping meals and rigorous exercising. But now the market offers many different fat burning pills that claim to burn fat fast. Most people want to lose fat to lead a healthy life. In most of the cases this reason is to mask the obsession of having a great looking sexy body. Many fat burning pills have successfully given the people desired results but many are nothing more than false claims. Many people have a common question- whether these fat burning pills actually work? </p>
<p>It is a proven fact that eating a balanced healthy diet and following a regular exercise regime is what is touted as the best and safest way to enjoy a slim and healthy life style. But this is also true that it is difficult for many to follow this type of routine and thus take shortcuts in achieving their goal. Fat burning pills are no miracle pills. They are chemically designed medicines that help in burning fat. But like all medications, they too have some mild or extreme side effects related to their use. Instead of using something that doesn&#8217;t work or is unsafe you must first understand the working of these pills. </p>
<p>There are three ways in which any fat burning pill works. The pills help in the release of fats from the fat cells, from where it enters the bloodstream. In the bloodstream they are converted to free fatty acids. These are then taken up by the muscle cells where they are burned. A second way involves the suppression of appetite and is a complex process that needs stimulation b hormones and various neurotransmitters. <p>To start off, I&#8217;ll try to give a little bit of quick background information about myself. About 2 1/2 months ago I started what I consider to be a pretty strict diet and workout plan. I am a 6 ft 2in male and my starting weight was 218. Since then, I have recently weighed in at 187-188 give or take. </p>
<p>My diet mainly consists of vegetables (cabbage soup), yogurts occasionally, grilled chicken, shrimp, occasionally a glass of fat-free milk, whole wheat turkey wraps (not often) with pickles, and more. Recently I have looked to incorporate some type of smoothie into my diet, and by doing so I wanted to add a mixture of fruits. However, I noticed that many of the fruits have a high amount of sugars in them and I know sugars don&#8217;t exactly aid in the &#8220;weight loss&#8221; department. Although I have heard that the fibers in fruits sort of negate the negative effect sugars have, it still brings up some concern.</p>
<p>My main concern is hitting a stalemate with my weight loss and dieting plan. As of thus far, I have continued to see great results and am working at seeing a full six-pack soon. I run 7 days a week, usually 2-5 miles per day, with brisk walk breaks in between somewhere, and usually lift weights 2-3 days a week.</p>
<p>Fruits are considered &#8220;simple&#8221; carb foods with high amounts of sugars. Does the high amount of fiber within them negate the possibility of a &#8220;negative&#8221; impact on weight loss? Will one meal a day, preferably breakfast, have an overall effect on my goals?</p>
<p>Any advice would help greatly, thank you in advance!</p>
